FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Emergency and 24/7 callouts

How quickly can you get to me?

For emergencies, we’re usually with you within 40 to 60 minutes. For booked-in work, we’ll give you a two-hour time slot, and your fitter will call you when they’re on their way.

Are you really available 24/7, including Christmas Day and bank holidays?

We really are. Day or night, 365 days a year, if you’ve got a tyre problem, we’ll come to you. Just call 0333 40 41 333.

Do you attend breakdowns on the A419, M4 and other main roads?

Yes. Emergency work is what we specialise in, and all of our fitters are qualified to attend roadside breakdowns. Call us with your location and we’ll get to you as quickly as we can.

What should I do while I wait for you?

Keep yourself and your passengers safe first. Put your hazard lights on and get to a safe spot away from traffic if you can. On a motorway, leave through the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier, well away from the carriageway. Don’t try to change the wheel at the roadside. The Highway Code has full guidance on breakdowns, and we’re only a phone call away if you need advice.

What if I have no spare wheel, or my spare is flat?

No problem. We’ll sort you out with a replacement tyre so you can get back on the road.

Do I pay more for out-of-hours callouts?

Yes, out-of-hours and emergency callouts cost more than a standard booking, as we’re running a 24-hour emergency service and our fitters are out when most people are tucked up in bed. We’ll always tell you the price before we start.

2. Booking and what to expect

How do I book: phone, online or WhatsApp?

Whichever suits you. You can call us, book online, message us on WhatsApp or drop us an email, and we’ll take it from there.

Can I book in advance for a set time, or is it on demand only?

You can. We normally offer two-hour time slots and your fitter will ring you when they’re on the way. If you need a particular time, let us know and we’ll do our best to fit around you.

What details do you need when I book?

Just the basics: your vehicle registration, your tyre size if you know it, and where you are. If you have a locking wheel nut, please have the key ready for when the fitter arrives.

Do I need to be with the vehicle while you work?

Not necessarily. As long as we can get to the vehicle and have the keys and locking wheel nut key, we can get on with the job while you’re out.

Where can you fit my tyres: home, workplace, roadside, car park?

Pretty much anywhere. Home, work, a car park, a lay-by, you name it. We’d fit them on the moon if you could get us the coordinates (it’s slightly outside our area, though).

How much space or what conditions do you need to work safely?

We can fit tyres almost anywhere. If we need to move the car to a safer or better spot, your fitter will ask you first.

Can you work in the rain, in the dark or in winter?

Yes. Rain, dark, snow or sunshine, our vans are kitted out and our fitters are ready for any conditions.

How long does a fitting or repair take?

Usually around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the job.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Just give the office a call, drop us an email or send a WhatsApp message. We’re flexible and we’ll do our best to find a time that works.

3. Pricing and payment

How much does a puncture repair cost?

A puncture repair is £45.

How much does a new fitted tyre cost?

It depends on your tyre size and the brand you choose. Give us a call or send a message and we’ll give you a price.

Is there a callout fee or an extra charge for coming to me?

There’s a callout fee, and it depends on how far we’re travelling. You’ll see the price when you enter your details on our online booking, or just call and we’ll confirm it.

Are balancing, valves and disposal of the old tyre included?

Yes. A new tyre price covers a fully fitted tyre, so there are no nasty surprises when we finish.

Do you give a fixed quote before you start?

Always. You’ll know the price before any work begins.

What payment methods do you accept, and when do I pay?

We accept all major credit and debit cards and cash, and Klarna is available when you book online.

Do you provide a VAT invoice or receipt for insurance or business claims?

Yes, we’ll email you a VAT invoice as soon as the job is done.

4. Repairs or replacement

Can my punctured tyre be repaired, or does it need replacing?

We’ll always try to repair it first, because it saves you money. We’ll usually bring a replacement tyre along just in case the damage turns out to be too bad for a repair.

Can a sidewall puncture be repaired?

No. The sidewall flexes constantly as you drive, so a repair there isn’t safe or legal, and the tyre will need replacing.

Is a repaired tyre safe and legal?

Yes. A properly repaired tyre is both safe and legal, and it should last the rest of the tyre’s life.

What is the legal tread depth in the UK, and when should I replace my tyres?

The legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread. We’d advise changing your tyres once they get down to around 3mm, as grip, especially in the wet, drops off well before the legal limit.

Why does my tyre keep losing pressure?

It’s most likely a slow puncture, but it needs a proper inspection to be sure, and a worn valve can be to blame as well. Give us a call and we’ll take a look.

What counts as a blowout and what should I do?

A blowout is sudden and pretty obvious: a loud bang, the car pulling to one side, or the tyre coming apart. Hold the steering wheel firmly, ease off the accelerator without stamping on the brakes, and pull over somewhere safe. Then give us a call and we’ll be on our way.

5. Tyres and products

Which tyre brands do you supply?

We supply all the major brands, with a good selection of budget and mid-range options too.

Do you fit tyres I’ve bought elsewhere?

Yes, we’re happy to fit tyres you’ve bought elsewhere.

Do you carry stock on the van, or order tyres in?

We carry a good stock on the vans, mostly mid-range tyres. If we don’t have what you need on board, we can source it for you.

Can you supply run-flat, winter, all-season and EV tyres?

Yes, we supply all types of tyres, including run-flat, winter, all-season and EV tyres.

How do I find my tyre size?

It’s printed on the sidewall of your tyre, in a format like 205/55 R16. If you can’t find it, call us and we’ll help you work it out. Our Tyre Labelling page has more detail.

What do the numbers and symbols on the tyre label mean?

There’s a lot of information on a tyre, and most of it isn’t important day to day. The key bits are the width, the profile, the rim size, the load index and the speed rating. We’re happy to talk you through it if you give us a ring.

Should I replace tyres in pairs or all four?

You should always replace at least two tyres on the same axle, and on some vehicles, such as certain four-wheel drives, all four. If you’re not sure about yours, ask us.

What does a winter tyre changeover involve?

It’s no different to fitting any other tyre. A winter tyre is simply a type of tyre, and we’ll fit it just as quickly. Let us know what you’re after.

6. Wheels and specialist services

I’ve lost my locking wheel nut key. What do you do?

We can remove locking wheel nuts. We like to see a picture of what we’re dealing with before we quote, so send us a WhatsApp message with a photo and we’ll get back to you.

Will removing a locking wheel nut damage my wheels?

It’s very unlikely, and we take real care, but it’s fair to say there’s a small chance on a stubborn nut. If there’s any risk to your wheel, we’ll tell you before we start.

Do you supply and fit alloy wheels, and offer wheel and tyre packages?

Yes. We offer a good range of alloy wheels for all vehicles, and we can supply wheel and tyre packages. Call us for prices.

What is wheel alignment, how do I know I need it, and is it done at the unit or mobile?

Wheel alignment makes sure your wheels point the right way, which helps your tyres wear evenly and keeps the car driving straight. If your car pulls to one side or your tyres wear unevenly, it’s worth a check, and it’s always a good idea when you change tyres. We carry this out at our unit.

Can you check or replace TPMS sensors and valves?

Yes. We can check them, tell you how much battery life is left, and replace them if needed.

How often should I check my tyre pressure, and what should it be?

Once a month is ideal, but as long as you check regularly, say every two to three months, you’ll be fine. Always check before a long journey. The right pressure is in your vehicle handbook, and usually on the door frame or inside the fuel flap. Our Tyre Pressure page has more detail.

7. Commercial, 4×4 and specialist vehicles

Do you fit tyres on vans, 4x4s and SUVs?

Yes, we do.

Do you fit HGV, bus, tractor, agricultural and plant tyres, and on site?

Yes, and we’ll come to you wherever the vehicle is.

Do you offer fleet or business accounts and invoicing?

Yes. Get in touch and we’ll set up an account that works for your business.

Can you service multiple vehicles in one visit?

Yes, we can fit tyres on more than one vehicle in a single visit. It saves you time and keeps your vehicles on the road.

8. Coverage and trust

Which towns and areas do you cover?

We cover a 15 to 20 mile radius around Swindon, including Chippenham, Cirencester, Cricklade, Devizes, Highworth and Stroud. Check our location pages, or give us a call if you’re not sure we cover you.

Are you insured, and are your fitters qualified?

Yes, we’re fully insured and all of our fitters are qualified.

Is there a guarantee on the tyres and your workmanship?

Yes. We stand behind our tyres and our work, so if there’s a problem, get in touch and we’ll put it right.

Why use you instead of a garage or breakdown cover?

We come to you, there’s no garage queue, and we’re available 24/7. But don’t just take our word for it: we’re proud of our Google reviews, so go and see what our customers say.

Where are you based, and can I visit the unit?

Yes, you’re welcome to visit us for tyres at Unit 1B, Hargreaves Road, Groundwell Industrial Estate, Swindon, SN25 5AZ. It’s worth giving us a ring first so we know you’re coming.

I can’t thank Lou enough! My husband was nervous driving on the other side of the road. He hit the ‘shoulder’ and popped the tire. I called your number and as soon as you answered I knew we were in good hands. He was so calm and reassuring. When he popped the second I knew who to call and was assured Steph would be right out. Thank you!! You really understand us customer service!!
